About the movie: Modernization came suddenly to India's mountainous region of Ladakh, in the 1970s, changing people's lives completely.
All over the world, it is clear that globalization is causing many problems. This documentary was directed by Helena Norberg-Hodge, who wrote the book Ancient Futures: Learning from Ladakh, for which she received the Right Livelihood Award (the "alternative Nobel Prize") in 1986.
