2006 J.E.E. Eco-calendar

Healthy Food, Healthy Planet

calender photo

In the 15 years since JEE began to produce this annual eco-calendar, we have featured many different themes. For 2006 we chose to explore aspects of food, due to its vital importance in supporting the lives of people everywhere. Looking at the universal production process, which includes planting seeds -> raising crops -> harvesting -> preserving -> marketing -> cooking -> eating -> disposing of wastes, it is clear that every step involves environmental considerations.
All illustrations are the original creations of our good friend High Moon, who recently moved to Ishikawa Prefecture to further his research into the relationship between ecology and agriculture. This suggested our theme, together with the beautiful local tradition of Kaga-yuzen dyeing that makes these images so enjoyable.
